Undertow

For those who are suffering from the foundation eroding riptide of current events. . .

Undertow

Things change too fast
beyond control
sand sucked from under feet
losing balance
falling
drawn feet first toward oblivion.
Eyes filled with sun
fingers raking shore
clawing sand
fighting.
Will someone save me
grab my wrists
with sure strong hands
pull me back into existence
onto solid ground
made firm by the company
of someone substantial.

- from the book of poetry "N" by Nancy Boudreau, 1998
